The Streets is teaming up with breast cancer prevention charity Genesis to educate the Amorelles about breast cancer and its prevention, through regular blogposts and magazine features. Breast Cancer… WE ARE COMING FOR YOU!

Did you know that currently 1 in 10 women and 1 in 1,000 men in the UK will develop breast cancer? We at Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention are the only national UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer. We’re based in Manchester at The Nightingale and Genesis Prevention Centre, in Europe’s first built breast cancer prevention centre.

We wholeheartedly believe that through our vital research, breast cancer one day will be preventable, and we collaborate both nationally and internationally with the very best experts in the field. Our research falls into four distinct and essential areas: Gene Research, Early Detection & Screening, Preventative Drugs and Diet & Lifestyle. We rely on the cooperation of patients and high risk individuals who understand that by providing information about their lives now; they can save the lives of others in the future. We receive no statutory or government funding and therefore rely on the generosity of our supporters.

Across the UK, 50, 000 people are sadly diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Our vision is to prevent breast cancer for future generations, and we would like nothing better than your help in making this vision a reality. Breast cancer is by no means fun, but here at Genesis, we try to make fundraising as fun as possible, and together we can make 1 in 10, none in 10.

There are so many ways to work with us, from the demure to the wacky. Perhaps you fancy getting sponsored to abseil down a building, or maybe you’d be more at home with a bake sale? Heck, maybe you might want to abseil, whilst eating cake (or maybe not!). There are so many ways of getting involved, but the most important thing is that you will join us in making the difference in our fight against breast cancer.

Over the next few months, and thanks to Amor, we will be sharing more facts about breast cancer, and how it affects your generation. We will also be updating you on upcoming events and fundraising opportunities. In the meantime, and for further information please visit
