It appears that 2017 is the year for female domination of the TV industry. With a wide variety of female leads, producers and stories, now is the time to snuggle up in bed with your laptop and indulge in all the internet has to offer. Here are some shows to keep on the lookout for:
13 Reasons Why
The Netflix TV series, produced by Selena Gomez, is the former Disney star’s first behind-the-camera role. The show is based on the bestselling series by Jay Asher, and follows the story of teenager Clay Jenson as he tries to uncover why his friend committed suicide. It airs on Netflix March 3rd.
Santa Clarita Diet
An American horror comedy starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, two married real estate agents whose life takes a turn when Barrymore’s character becomes a zombie. If you have a strong stomach and gory sense of humour, this could be the online show for you. It airs on Netflix February 3rd.
Good Girls Revolt
The must watch feminist TV show from last year, depicts the daily life of female researchers in a 1960 newsroom who are shunned to the side-lines by their male counterparts. Despite the popularity of the show Amazon Prime has recently announced they will be cancelling the series, however there are rumours the show might move to ABC, Bravo, USA Network or maybe even Netflix (although they are considered a long shot). So keep on the lookout!
Girl Boss
A Netflix adaptation of the autobiography of Sophia Amoruso, a former misfit who discoverers her hidden talents and becomes a fashion entrepreneur. Staring Tomorrow Land’s Britt Robertson, the Netflix production will have 13 half hour long episodes, and is set to one of the biggest online shows of 2017. It airs on Netflix this April.
Fleabag
Despite Fleabag being set in the aftermath of a tragedy, the Amazon Prime and BBC Three series really makes you laugh. The terribly British sense of humour echoes throughout the 6 episodes and makes it a must to catch up on. Watch on Amazon Prime and BBC Three now.
