FOOD
We headed down to 400 Rabbits last Thursday to try some of their Napoleon style pizzas, but we skipped the craft beer.
400 Rabbits use a 48 hour fermenting process and then cook the pizzas in their colourfully decorated wood fired oven. The result is a wafer thin base topped with the juiciest canned tomatoes and fresh seasonal ingredients.
I decided to try the Ground, Aged Hereford Beef pizza with Green Chilli, Onions, Tomato and Mozzarella, while my guest went for the Anchovies, Lilliput Capers, Onion, Mozzarella, Tomato and Rosemary pizza. The pizzas had some serious flavour and because of how thin they were, they didn’t leave us feeling heavy afterwards.
To finish our meal on a high, we went for the Gluten Free Salted Caramel Brownie with GELUPO Ice-cream. Gelupo ice-cream has to be one of the best I’ve tried in London and to find a place that is literally on my doorstep that sells it, is super! The brownie was lovely, rather filling but definitely hit the spot.
OVERALL:
400 Rabbits new addition in Nunhead has only been open 2 months, but already has drawn in the locals. The menu is pretty simple and there aren’t many pizzas to make the decision hard on the customer.
I loved the pastel decor with exposed bricks, it gave the place a delicate yet undone look. It’s always nice to see a little branding on food, so the 400 rabbit motif on the dessert was a nice touch.
The staff were pleasant. Our waitress had a better memory than me, not having to write our order down and still managing to deliver every single item without having to remind her of anything.
400 Rabbits has a chilled atmosphere with funky music playing not too loud in the background. Ideal for friends looking for a cool place to hangout and eat some tasty food. All in all, good value, service and atmosphere, a potential leader in its field.
