This week we take great enjoyment in introducing you to 24 year old, sensual singer Peri X. The RnB Turkish-Cypriot songstress has just released her EP earlier on this month called ‘The X Games’ which features rappers A2 and Young Teflon. The release saw the sold out launch take place at 93 Feet East on Brick Lane. Stemming from South East London, this singer is out going, full of energy and her music screams honesty!
Peri X is part of a collective known as CNO, which, when asked what CNO stands for, I was told it couldn’t be published! Haha – I assume they are building up to the release of the meaning behind the name all in due course… Anyway, what I can share with you is, CNO is made up of 6 artists; 4 male rappers – HacheCNO, NershonCNO, Renzo, Nigel Quotes CNO, 1 male singer and producer – J R James and the female of the group Peri X herself. The idea behind the collective is supporting each other’s careers in the music industry, however all of the 6 members are individual artists and are working on their own solo careers.
When listening to her 8-track EP ‘The X Games’, I couldn’t help but notice her lyrics explored sexual desires as a woman. I felt quite refreshed to hear a woman talk so openly about sex. When asked of her opinion of her music and it potentially deemed to be quite provocative, Peri X embraced this comment and stated: “sex is something we can all relate to – every ethnicity, sexual orientation etc. I just want to make music people can relate to…” (Hats off to that one Peri!).
I wanted to know what her musical influences are, on answering, she listed some of Amor’s all time favourites; Donell Jones, Erykah Badu, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Aaliyah. I went on to ask her what her top 3 things on her bucket list are and she mentioned; skydiving, sell out an arena and travel the world – which all seem to be in arms reach for this young lady!
Peri X shows her support for the underground music scene and boasts about how much talent we have in the UK – and we have to agree with her. Peri X is currently working on releasing some upbeat singles for the summer. We look forward to hearing more from this, soon to be RnB sensation!
