Written in its entirety by Beverley and her sister Veronica Ely, with Disturbing London affiliate J Warner (Tinie Tempah, JLS, Sasha Keable) collaborating with the Ely sisters to write ‘Me First’, and guest appearances from Daniel D and Mercston on ‘Cased Closed’ and ‘So Dumb’, Second Chance At A First Impression also boasts production from Mikey SOS (Emeli Sandé, Wretch 32, Ariana Grande),Kevin Cole (Bonkaz, Jumpoff TV) and Audio Rehab’s Joziff Jordan.

From the triumphant life-affirming ‘Heartbeat’ which kick starts the EP and Ely’s pensive opus ‘So Dumb’ about being oblivious to a failing relationship, to her soulful anthem ‘Me First’ about putting yourself first and ‘Case Closed’ which sees Ely marking an end to a relationship in repentant fashion, Ely has delivered an expansive body of work, both thematically and sonically, centered around strong themes of love, freedom and being comfortable in your own skin.

Speaking about her new record, Beverley Ely says, “I was in a place in my life where I was making a lot of bad decisions I was hurting others as well as myself. I was feeling regret and longing for forgiveness I wished that I could of gone back and started over. I wanted a second chance at a first impression. The title ‘Second Chance At A First Impression’ also reflects back to my debut EP ‘War’, which I released in 2013”.

After I released ‘War’, I felt that it didn’t show me to the best of my abilities, so with this new record, I am hoping I can get that second chance at a first impression with audiences that have been on this journey with me since that first record. I have grown in so many ways, as an artist and a woman, and this new EP isn’t just highlighting that growth, it’s also showing my artistry at a higher level”.

Second Chance At A First Impression is out now via Ely’s own label, purchase it on iTunes here.
