The vaping industry is getting a lot of bad publicity lately, which is strange considering the downturn of the tobacco industry and how critical the media has been about it. Vaping is seen as a purely recreational activity to some, but in reality, vaporisers were created specifically to help smokers transition from smoking to vaping without having to deal with cravings. Research has shown that vaping is a much healthier  alternative to smoking, and it can be used as an effective way to stop. However, there is a right and wrong way to go at it. Let’s take a look at how to use vaping to transition away from smoking.

It All Starts with the Right Device

You first have to get familiar with some of the main devices and device types when getting started. A lot of people will decide to start with a traditional pen type of device, or a cartridge device. Both of these have their benefits, but disadvantages as well. For one, these often have a much lower capacity, which means that you may have to refill them often. Cartridge devices will also require you to constantly buy new cartridges. Smaller devices don’t offer the same control either.

What we would advise is that you start with a small, easy to use device. If you like the experience, then you could switch to something like a nice Aspire mod. If you want to check them out, we suggest you visit vapeology.com. They have a wide variety of Aspire mods and pod systems as well. You’llalso be able to find supplies like coils and replacement pods.

Know Your Nicotine Levels

One of the most important things if your goal is to stop or reduce your smoking is to know what nicotine concentration you need. Heavy smokers might not get the satisfaction they need from lower-level liquids, and those who are light smokers might end up switching their tobacco addiction to a vaping addiction, which is not ideal.

If you are a heavy smoker (20 cigarettes or more per day), then something around 18mg is recommended. If you smoke somewhere between 10 and 20 cigarettes daily, then something in the 12mg range would be better. Light smokers should aim at around 3mg.

Taper Off Your Consumption and Try as Many Juice as you Can

The best way to slow your consumption is to start high with high frequency, and then lower your nicotine content. You can start with a high mg juice, then move to 12mg once you start feeling comfortable, and go down until you consider getting off the nicotine entirely.

You should also try different juices to see which ones you like. Try different types of devices too. For instance, you have mouth to lung devices that replicate the smoking experience better, and direct to lung devices that allow you to inhale the vapor directly into your lungs. It’s all about what you’re aiming for, and what your goal is.

Vaping can be a great way to cut your tobacco consumption and could even add some years to your life if you’ve been a lifelong smoker. Make sure that you know as much as you can about it and use it the way it was intended – do not trade oneaddiction for another.
