  1. Plan small things to look forward to each week. It could be a meal out, a catch up with friends or just a relaxing evening with a good film. If you have something small to keep you going each week it will help you forget about all the downsides to this time of year.

  1. We may be a long way off from summer yet but that does not mean you can’t start planning now. There is nothing like organizing a lovely break away to cheer you up. Don’t worry if you are on a tight budget either because even planning a low cost weekend break can be fulfilling.

  1. One of the reasons we tend to feel down in January is because we make New Years resolutions that we can’t keep. Then we beat ourselves up because we fail to stick to them. So if ‘new year, new me’ is something you are in to, just make sure you make a resolution you can actually stick to. A small change can go a long way and achieving your goal will make you feel great about yourself. If you haven’t done so yet why not make a small change this January?

  1. There is one good thing about January right? The sales! Go on a shopping trip with your girlfriends this month and re-vamp your wardrobe for the New Year. A good retail therapy session will do you the world of good!

Now this time of year is never going to be the best but with these little steps we can all make January more bearable and truly get 2015 off to a good start.
