And now as the weather starts to behave similar to that of a petulant teenager and the days of sunshine become more and more scarce we can turn our thoughts to the days of snuggle inducing knitwear and thick socks once more. However as the boys from Dsquared2 showed at their jazz-filled runway in Milan back earlier this year, winter can become an altogether classy affair.

The boys created a marvellous ensemble of luxury fabrics with shimmer shine and texture all in reasonably muted colours for their Fall Winter 13/14 collection – ‘Dames Masculines’. Lavender, moss green, taupe and chocolate brown appeared to be dominant amongst the tweed, wool and satin constructions.

Each model almost danced down the runway to music with the lyrics ‘cool cat in town’ with a live ensemble of musicians playing a selection of golden brass instruments. Each outfit screamed modernised 20s mobsters and some outfits looked as if they had been stolen from a very stylish man and worn by an empowered woman.

Straight legged trousers and long coats as well as midi length fitted pencil skirts all gave the appearance of length in the body and the leg and high waisted varieties are definitely on the menu.

More is more appeared to be the aesthetic for this collection as maximalist jewellery adorned the necks, ear lobes and lapels of each model with shining jewels set in gold glittering enticingly under the lights.

To add a vintage feel leather gloves and Cruella de Vil style cigarette holders were the accessories to finish off each look along with berets and elongated fedora hats.

So this winter take a look at The Great Gatsby and get inspired remembering glamour is everything and more is more.
