New Year’s resolutions aren’t all about getting fit and eating healthily! Re buff your fashion knowledge and give your wardrobe an overhaul with these easy fashion hints and tips.

1) Clear out your wardrobe regularly.
The rule is, if you haven’t worn it in a year, then get rid of it. Everyone has a sparkly jumpsuit or studded leather jacket they bought on a whim and haven’t actually had the guts to wear. And chances are, you never will! Give it all to charity to make way for something you’ll actually live in all year round. You’ll feel much better for it.
2) Ask yourself: ‘Do I really need this?’
It’s so easy to shop the sales and buy a whole hoard of things you don’t actually need. Just because it’s reduced, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Make sure you survey your wardrobe before you head shopping to work out if you’re in desperate need of those gorgeous jeans by Mary Katrantzou for Topshop…
3) Compile a capsule wardrobe.
Fashion guru, Gok Wan, has taught us that we will get a lot more wear out of clothes and accessories if they are versatile and can be worn with pretty much everything for an effortless thrown together look. This doesn’t mean you have to be boring and stick to the same style of cut or colour. Just make sure you don’t shell out on something uber expensive if you have no idea what to team it with!
4) Don’t always match your shoes with your handbag.
Matching shoes and handbags is so 90′s. Mix it up with different accessories to keep your look creative but make sure everything else is simple and classic to make the accessories really stand out.
5) Invest in a few staple items a year.
Shelling out on a good designer bag can really be worth your while as you’ll probably take it everywhere with you and it’s the same for a pair of jeans or a little black dress. They will be your ‘go to’ staples that you know will last. Look after shoes and bags with certain cleaning sprays or make sure you get that LBD dry cleaned to avoid disappointment.
