Let me just start of by saying, Pho & Bun’s food was topnotch.
We had Chilli salt & pepper squid, Honey Glazed BBQ Spare Ribs and Lemongrass Beef Skewers for starters. The spare ribs were so nice and tender, they just fell off the bone so effortlessly. I particularly liked the chilli salt and pepper squid, because normally I find in most places, the salty taste is quite overpowering but this wasn’t the case this time. The beef skewers tasted lush also.
For mains we decided to try each of the bao buns. They offer a twist on contemporary style burgers served in their deliciously fluffy bao buns. I devoured all of them in an instance, but my fave would have to be the BBQ Honey Pork Belly.
All-in-all it was good quality Vietnamese food at reasonable prices.
BUNANZA CHALLENGE
If you’re up for a challenge, then enquire about their Bunanza challenge. Steamed milky bun burgers, stacked high with prawn, pork, beef, mango and cheese! If you can scoff the lot in under 15 minutes then not only do you walk away without a bill, but you also win a £50 gift voucher! Do you have what it takes??
DRINKS:
They offer a good range of drinks from wine, Vietnamese coffees and teas to your regular soft drinks. I had a glass of red wine and then some aloe vera water to help digest all the food.
OVERALL:
I couldn’t fault Pho & Bun on their food, as everything was amazingly good – I’m even still thinking about the food a week on. I wish I could say the same about the service. The place was busy when we got there, even for Tuesday, so I could see the waiter was a little rushed off his feet, offering a not so pleasant welcome to us.
However, once they staffed up, it seemed to run a bit more smoothly.
Although the place was busy, there’s seating upstairs and downstairs, so they were able to accommodate pretty much everyone that walked in. The layout upstairs is a little cramped, but we were sat against the wall, which made us feel like we had a little more space.
Based on the food alone, I’d definitely return, because it’s not often you find a restaurant where everything you taste is just sublime!
