FOOD:
Chi Kitchen is an eclectic mix of Asian food, infusing Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean food into one menu. Their is menu is quite broad and it was a bit of a chore trying to pick the right dishes. We got there in the end and started off with some spider soft-shell crab sushi. Served with a small pot of dry ice, the sushi was a decent starter.
The Korean BBQ chicken wings were topped with roasted sesame seeds and were juicy to the bone.
The grilled tiger prawns in chilli lime and coriander sauce, also had a nice flavouring and were easy to devour.
For the main course, we shared the sea bass with chilli lime and coriander sauce with a Szechuan prawn stir fry and stir fried vermicelli noodles with mixed peppers, onion and baby pak choi, eggs and king crab. The sea bass had a great taste with a nice meaty texture and was a nice accompaniment for the vermicelli noodles.
The chocolate sphere for dessert was a truly delightful dish to finish off the meal. The waiter drizzled over some salted caramel and unfortunately the sphere just started melting away. We managed to tuck into it, whilst watching it rapidly disintegrate.
OVERALL:
Located at the back of Debenhams, Chi Kitchen offers a unique blend of authentic Asian cuisine, suitable for Halal diners. The service and quality of food was topnotch, topped off with a serene and child friendly environment.
The food came out in a sporadic but timely manner and was presented very well. From what we ate, we’d definitely recommend the sea bass, the stir fried vermicelli noodles and of course the chocolate sphere.
Ideal for: Calm place to take the load off whilst shopping.
