Following the release of her slick new cut “Sunday”, Montreal based artist Sara Diamond unveils “Nov 16th”
from her upcoming project IDK, imbued with a deeply personal narrative.
We caught up with Sara Diamond and she gave us her top 5 tracks and why. Find out below:
Everybody’s Got a Story – Amanda Marshall
My mom introduced me to AM when I was really young, probably 6 or 7. The lyrics are so beautiful, and I think more than musically, they influenced me on a philosophical level. I learned that we all come from different walks of life, so it’s important to treat people with compassion, kindness, and empathy. And as the lyric goes, “everybody’s got a story that can break your heart”.
The Voice Within – Christina Aguilera
This was a go-to song for me when I was growing up. Something about the lyrics, trusting the voice in your head that tells you everything will be ok. Plus, her vocal performance is beautiful.
Promises – India.Arie
Her storytelling is so beautiful in this song. I remember listening to it a lot. I have definitely learned a lot from India’s ability to tell stories and speak authentically through her lyrics. She directly influenced me in a song I wrote years ago, called Walls.
All To Myself – Baby Rose
This song is so incredibly beautiful. And her display of heartbreak is admirable. This song specifically has given me the freedom to go deep and continue to pull from painful experiences.
Stop this Train- John Mayer
I find John’s lyrics so poignant. This song specifically has influenced me to be as descriptive as possible, and create a visual for people to connect to.
