Stefflon Don Performing at Tina Festival

The beginning of January started off with a bang this time in the motherland, as The Streets headed to Africa for the inaugural This is New Africa Festival  (TINA Festival ) which took place in Accra, Ghana. An Initiative started off by Ghanaian & award winning Afro Beats musician Fuse ODG known for hit songs such as ‘Antenna’ featuring Wyclef Jean and ‘Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad).’ In line with Fuse ODG’s vision for Africa, the festival’s aim is to unite people of the African Diaspora and Africa in order to rebuild a new continent.

The festival kick started off with the TINA Conference hosted  by Fuse ODG featuring a number of discussions by leaders in the industry examining practical ways to start creating a united Africa. This included panelists such as broadcaster and Filmmaker Reggie Yates, Ghanaian British actress, television presenter and producer, Ama K, Ghanaian politician Samia Nkrumah and many more.

The panel was then followed by a star studded Kente Party hosted by British-Congolese comedian Eddie Kadi and featuring a combination of Ghanaian and UK based artists. The line- up included Grime heavy weights Skepta and Lethal Bizzle in addition to Fuse ODG, Sneakbo, Stefflon Don , award winning Ghanaian artist Sarkodie and Joey B.

The festival was part of a wider statement that Ghana is in fact the place to be. 2019 is being marked as the year of return in Ghana and will feature a whole host of events to welcome the Diaspora Community home.
