As usual the pre – fall collections are off to a winning start. We’ve seen our favourite tartan hues back for another fifteen minutes of fame; the classic masculine trouser ready for another slouch round the block,  and outerwear boasting enough fluff to see us through the next major ice age. All totally fabulous, and yet all totally expected.

What we didn’t anticipate however was quite so much Miley on our winter runways. Ever since she twerked her way onto our TV screens, foam finger at the ready, we knew we were on the cusp of something so mind boggling we didn’t know if there were enough cups of tea in the whole world to help us recover. This time I’m talking about the gaggle of twerking teddies she employed to grace her ‘Can’t Stop’ world tour. It was homage to all things fluffy, and it seems the fashionistas are following suit.

At Calvin Klein it was all about the cosy. Francisco Costa’s latest offering was heavy on the homey with floor skimming coats in the iciest of greys and the fluffiest lilac shearling coat you could ever hope to meet – and guess who’s already had a nice old slice of the pie? Miss Cyrus of course was already ahead of the game rocking the Costa’s fabulous creation at this year’s Pre-Grammy celebrations.

It seems something was also in the air over at Nina Ricci, where a smattering of new urban flavour was in the mix. With zip fronted leather, shaggy motorcycle jacket and a smattering of shearling lining, it seems a call for downier pastures was on the cards for the typically classic label.

Whilst at Emillio Pucci it was time for an update on the frosted pink coat of winters past. Voluminous structure and heavy wools were swapped for looser shapes and softer fabrics. The pinks may have been frostier but the offering was more than enough to heat up proceedings.  Now, I’m not one to jump the gun, but could it be that Cyrus strikes again? She ‘can’t stop, won’t stop’ after all…
