Bringing us a dose of summertime come early, Vanessa Jamie is a vision on her newest release ‘Fall’.

Taken from her upcoming EP ‘Sunset’, the track evokes beautiful imagery with hazy, sun-soaked synths and dreamy riffs, with the breezy rhythm playing as the perfect backdrop for her buttery soft vocals. Married with ethereal harmonies, the emotion seeps through her every word, and the track, produced by Jeauneil Baptiste and Lorenz Okello, is a beautiful translation of Vanessa’s personal experiences, which are both delicate and dazzling.

“Sunset is a raw and open journey expressing the concept of finding closure to an end but still remaining hopeful in envisioning a new and purposeful future” Vanessa explains, “It skilfully tells stories of toxic love, attachment, identity and growth. All I want is for people to really listen, relate to my experiences and feel empowered to move on from things that may be hindering their growth. I want to encourage people to be self-aware and know that your past experiences don’t determine your future”.

Fusing neo-soul, R&B and jazz, Vanessa’s flair pays homage to both her East London and Afro-Caribbean roots, counting her inspirations as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Jazmine Sullivan and Lauryn Hill. After emerging on the scene with her stunning debut single ‘Talk to Me’, she sold out her first headline show in Dalston’s Servant Jazz Quarters and landed herself on Spotify’s UK R&B playlist and on the prestigious blog site Fashionably Early.

With her future looking effervescently bright, be sure to keep an eye out for Vanessa Jamie this year.
