River Island and style blogger Sandra Hagelstam (5inchandup) have collaborated to release a new shoe collection and the designs are to die for. I attended the launch event at River Island’s Park Lane store to get a first hand look at the shoes, learn more about the process behind the collection and of course indulge in complimentary cocktails and cookies.
Expressing she had the ‘River Island Girl’ in mind when designing her collection, Sandra has designed shoes that show variety, including ankle boots, thigh highs and pumps, provide comfort as well as style and create the illusion of height for the shorter girl. Not only were we lucky enough to view a masterclass video on tips of how best to walk in heels, Sandra also demonstrated several different ways the shoes could be styled picking clothing straight from the shop floor. In my opinion, these are the shoes you need if you’re planning to turn heads at that Christmas party around the corner or at least need to have them on your Christmas wish list.
If we weren’t being spoilt enough, she then went on to talking about her experiences of how she fell into blogging, how she’s always loved River Island shoes and how it resulted in her very own collection; an inspiring moment for anyone working hard to take those first steps into the fashion industry.
The launch on a whole was a great Thursday night out; River Island are excellent hosts. I’ll most certainly be looking out for similar events in the future.
