Oscar award winning singer Adele reportedly left L’Oreal ‘gobsmacked’ this week as she backed out of a multimillion pound deal with the beauty brand.

A source stated that, ‘L’Oreal was in negotiations for the deal with Adele and it looked to be happening – but she just changed her mind on it,’

The 25 year old Skyfall star was set to replace current ambassador Cheryl Cole as the new face of the brand. The need for a change is rumoured to have been due to L’Oreal’s disapproval of Cheryl’s recent adjustments to her appearance including her hair colour and large body tattoos.

The sudden walk out is at present a mystery to the company who are rumoured to have offered the singer a £12 million four-year advertising contract. However, despite L’Oreal’s shock, in the past Adele has made her views on celebrity branding very clear. In 2011 she was quoted saying, ‘I don’t want my name anywhere near another brand. I don’t want to be tainted or haunted. I think it’s shameful when you sell out.’

The decision may have also come about in favour of continuing to focus on her music which has been incredibly success of late, and to spend more time with her 13-month-old son with boyfriend Simon Konecki.

Regardless of whether the reason is revealed it will be interesting to see who L’Oreal choose to replace her!
