I disapprove of this entirely, it is almost encouraging our youth to have sex at an early age.
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
Well if they are having sex Marian, don’t you think they should be protected from having children?
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
Fair point, but I personally think coils and implants are intrusive forms of contraception especially for young girls. I also think making things like that so easily accessible can somewhat encourage young girls more to have sex. Same way they want to start advertising abortions…seems unnecessary…
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
Contraception has always been available to young girls ie. Under 16 years.
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
Yep it has…
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
I don’t think children should have children, and for that reason I am FOR contraception. Also I think that even if contraception wasn’t available to under 16s they will find away…
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
promoting contraception encourages youths to be sexually active.
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
I think it discourages children from having children. If a child is promiscuous, the child will remain promiscuous whether contraception is available or not.
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
Contraception has always been available, but yet young girls (and some so frequently), still get pregnant due to irresponsibility…
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
Very true
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
More effort should go into raising children and educating morals values and self worth. I’d be mad if my daughter was having sex at 13 let alone had an IMPLANT in her arm!!!! At 13, you should be climbing trees and dancing and skipping! Lol!
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
Well yes of course! Lol!
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
Childhood is eradicating…it makes me sad
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
But at the end of the day children ARE having sex, and I think that the government putting this into affect is a result of our youth having children too early, not the other way around.
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
Yep you are right
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
And these children need to NOT have children, I think this is the problem with our society! The breakdown of family units! IE: CHILDREN HAVING CHILDREN!!!!
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
It’s so true but then the country need to think about raising smarter children. We have 1 of the highest teen pregnancy rates! YET I don’t think many other countries give implants and coils to under 16s.
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
What do you expect the government to do? It is down to parents and families. You can’t put it down as the fault of the government!
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
So how is that answered then… What has all the other countries solutions been? Yes I do agree that it is definitely down to the parents and family unit
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
Exactly so you can’t blame the government. It is down to the lack of family structure. I think a lot of children are neglected and therefore seek love/affection outside of the family home and that is why we are having high levels of sexual activity in our youth
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
I am not blaming the gov… but I’m just not for such intrusive forms of contraception for such young girls. These girls are not even developed properly and they are having hormones circulating in them. I didn’t have my first period till I was 14! And to think girls younger than that can get implants!!!!??? I don’t agree no 1 can change my mind!
Ruby Mae Moore Editor-in-chief:
The way the gov see it though is.. If you give a sexually active girl an implant, she can’t get pregnant for 3 years. From 13 to 16 that’s a very different age.
Marian Okogwu, Leisure & Events Editor:
True but watch how many teenagers STILL get pregnant after this! All I’m saying is many countries have not implemented this and their pregnancy rates are much lower than the UK! It’s about installing morals, values… traditions in your child from a young age! Sorry I just get a bit heated. I just know that if my child had that… and was in yr 7/8 I will go bonkers..
