Jay Sean Interview with The Streets

The Streets’s Mya Savannah catches up with UK singer Jay Sean. Jay recently dropped mixtape Mistress II that you can download from www.themistresstapes.com

Jay tells Mya that he’s left Cash Money Records because he wasn’t happy with the direction he was going in. He felt like the music was too Americanized and wanted to touch base with his UK fans. Jay’s an accomplished star with fans in the UK and US.

Mya asks him for tips for success and he says that you need to drop the ego. To build an overseas fanbase, you have to start from scratch because American audiences don’t know who they are. Even though Jay Sean has been in America for awhile, he says he’s eager to work with British stars. Jay says the first people he would like to work with are Skepta, Chipmunk and Ghetts who he considers his mates not just fellow artists.

Jay gives an insight to the Mistress II. He was frustrated of writing pop music and this is a grown and sexy sound that is more true to him.
