When thinking of Louis Vuitton, the trademark handbags stamped with LV donned by models as such as Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss come to mind not prostitution. For Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, Marc Jacobs (creative director of LV) went in another direction.

The fall collection was inspired by the “women of the night”. Which means filled with lingerie inspired pieces mixed with fur coats and dark-tones.

The promotional video, directed by James Lima was made for Love magazine and is an extension of Marc Jacob’s idea for the collection. Models Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger, amongst others, wander through Parisian streets at night wearing pieces from the collection.
The nudity portrayed on the video, caused a lot of controversy especially since the models were seen naked, waiting to be picked up by suitors.
The fashion house has been accused of “glamorizing prostitution” and saying that it is “an extremely shocking representation of women”. Katie Grand, the stylist of the video publicly apologized saying, “it certainly was not my attention to cause offence” while Louis Vuitton has not given a comment on the video.
Is it brilliant or a wrong presentation of dangerous profession that so many women are forced into?
Louis Vuitton has caught numerous of people’s attention, which is the main point, isn’t it?
