Last Friday saw the release of the American biographical film I, Tonya in the UK cinemas, which follows the life of figure skater Tonya Harding and her connection to one of the most controversial memories in sport history; the 1994 attack on her rival Nancy Kerrigan.

Starring one of Amor’s favourite actors Margot Robbie (who also produced) plays the lead role of Harding, Sebastian Stan plays Harding’s violent husband Jeff Gillooly, and Allison Janney plays Harding’s abusive mother, LaVona.

The film illustrated Tonya’s troubled childhood, the rise and fall of one of the best figure skaters in the United States in spite of her “white trash” reputation. The film shows the star’s harsh reality off ice, proving how impactful our personal relationships can have on our professional careers.

A touching story, beautifully acted, a good watch. Amor rating : 7/10
