The infamous music event, I Luv Live, returned with a successful celebration of their 10th birthday. Every year, the ever growing UK based show sees emerging acts, as well as established artists, perform with a live band for an audience of eager ears. The likes of Professor Green, Katy B, Tinie Tempah and Ed Sheeran have previously graced the I Luv Live stage.
Hosts, Twin B (BBC 1Xtra) and Ras Kwame (Capital Xtra), were ever present, keeping the energy going and constantly teasing the crowd with the football scores.
Shining on the night was Tanika, who had great stage presence and vocals, and Blizzard who exhibited such versatility and even brought out Shakka. Rapper Blizzard surprised us, not only did he rap and sing but he also showed off his skills on the piano.
Rough Copy brought back R&B, wooing the crowd with ‘Street Love’ as they geared up for their debut single which is set to be released on the 29th June. Ghetts represented for the UK rap scene while Stylo G brought the most energy and had the crowd jumping with ‘Call me a Yardie’ and ‘Tun Up’.
Soulful singer / songwriter Jacob Banks switched it up with a cover of Bob Marley’s ‘Is This Love’ bringing a mellow reggae vibe.
As expected, the crowd went crazy in anticipation of headlining acts Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande. Her performance was amazing! It was especially touching as both Emeli Sande and Naughty Boy met at an I Luv Live event five years prior. They both shared on their experience and passion for the industry, which was a nice touch.
Finally, was a ‘special surprise performance’ from Jessie J. It was the perfect end to a night of live music. She belted out top singles and had the crowd captivated by her remarkable vocal range and down to earth personality.
Managing Director, Racheal Bee, even had the opportunity to blow out the candles of the I Luv Live birthday cake with the talented Remel London, presenter, by her side in a bid to show support. The event was a great success; a diverse mix of raw talent was exhibited through various styles. It’s evident why the show remains a hit. The next I Luv Live event is on Thursday 19th June in Bristol and the 21st July in London. More information at www.iluvlive.co.uk
