Fenty Skin – Tried & Tested. It has been nearly two years since Roc Nation’s darling, Rihanna, disrupted our makeup regimes with her trailblazing Fenty Beauty range. Having changed the game for shade selection, pigment and general bad-ass named products, this obviously didn’t satisfying the Bajan popstar’s taste for a beauty empire.

While the internet has been busy harassing RiRi for that new album (cough! We still want it), she was busy in the lab cooking up something really special to add to her growing beauty business.

Fenty Skin is here! It has been a few weeks and for those of us who ‘copped when it dropped’, there has been enough time to decide whether or not, this is going to be part of our everyday routine.

Product by product, and the verdicts are…

Fenty Skin – Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser

This face wash is the first step on the Fenty Skin experience and it does not disappoint! Total Cleans’r has a thick and creamy consistency, packaged in a unique bottle to ensure little wastage and maximum product usage.

Total Cleans’r is made with a subtle and delicate balance of: Vitamin C, rich acerola (Bajan cherry) to brighten; ginkgo biloba to control oil production; green tea and fig with antioxidant properties and quince to help condition the skin.

The smell is light and fruity, so if you are ANTI-fragrance this range might not be for you. However, if you are like me and have sensitive skin, this may be what you need. After using the product twice a day, for the last 2 weeks, my skin has been clearer, smoother and without blemishes. Bye bye new product breakout!

This cleanser is rich, which leaves skin feeling clean, but not stripped. When applied, it is without lather on the skin.

The only con? Double-cleansing may be needed to remove a full face of makeup, but that is not the end of the world!

Fenty Skin – Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum

The name might be a bit of a mouthful, but this Fat Water is nothing short of refreshing. Packed with skin kind goodness like: lemon myrtle water and witch hazel to reduce the appearance of pores and minimise oil production; hydrating cactus flower; Japanese raisin tree to detoxify; niacinamide to even complexion and brighten dark spots as well as fig, acerola and green tea, this product packs a real punch!

You might expect that with such a heavy ingredient lists, Fat Water may leave skin feeling sticky or dry, but this product gets straight to work, soaking seamlessly into the skin within seconds. Habit might have you wanting to use cotton pads to apply, but to get the most out of it, you are better off applying it with your fingertips to properly massage into your face and neck.

The packaging has been designed for easy one-handed use and a little bit goes a really long way. Just a pea-size amount is needed to enrich your whole face.

The cons? Honestly, there are none! Rihanna has cleverly formulated a toner/serum blend that detoxifies skin at the same time as replenishing it, making Fat Water everything we didn’t know we needed!

Fenty Skin – Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturiser Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

Like Fat Water, Hydra Vizor DID. NOT. COME. TO. PLAY!!! If you are the girl who just learned about how important SPF is in your skincare regime (girl where ya been?) then this is THE product for you. Beautifully scented with wafts of fruity watermelon and floral safflower this moisturiser will have you wanting to slather this product all over your body and not just your face!

Hydro-Vizor is a cast-free product that hydrates and moisturises the skin, protects from sun damage to improve and prevent dark marks, fine lines and wrinkles. Gliding on your face like butter,  Hydro-Vizor perfects the Fenty Skin trio, acting as a flawless base for makeup or showcasing your glow from within on a makeup free day. Seriously if there is a product in the line that is going to bring you as close to Rihanna’s stunning levels, this is it!

The only con? The SPF qualities of this product mean that Hydrovizor needs to be reapplied every two hours for effective sun protection.

Overall, in the few weeks since it hit the shelves, Fenty Skin has provided a whole new approach to skincare. Environmentally conscious, vegan, cruelty-free hybrid products with reusable packaging, you won’t be disappointed stretching your pursestrings to invest in this range. While the price point aligns it with many premium skincare brands, you are definitely getting a bargain for your buck considering Fat Water and Hydro Viser are multiple products in one!
