It’s a new year which means, new year’s resolutions, fresh starts, and a HUGE detoxifying regime to let our bodies recover from the overindulgent Christmas period.

We all had our relaxing time off, but it’s now time to kick start 2022 with a healthy bang! Now, it may be daunting to even know where to start when it comes to changing your lifestyle. However, we’re here to make that easier for you, with small changes, you can make a big difference.

Here goes nothing…

Detox water

Not only does getting your recommended daily intake of water have its massive benefits (which is 3.7l for men and 2.7l for women). But infusing your water with fruits, vegetables or herbs can offer a major boost in metabolism, reduce toxins, and lower physical and mental fatigue!

It is great for detoxing your skin, leaving it looking flawless and vibrant.

Consuming so much water each day can also be a challenge, so adding some flavour with detox water can make all the difference in reaching that 2.7/3.7 litre target.

If you find you’re still struggling to reach the recommended daily intake of water, then it may be worth trying a guided water bottle. For example, The Head Plan have a water bottle with motivational quotes and drinking sections to help keep you on track to reaching that intake.

Other companies have different bottles all designed to keep you motivated, we just love this one as it’s sopretty!

Multivitamins

Incorporating multivitamins into your daily routine will have a long-lasting effect on your body. It is not a quick fix and can take months to see any effects – but Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Multivitamins aren’t going to reduce any risks of heart disease or cognitive development; however, our bodies require 13 vitamins every day for health function. These are A, C, D, E, K and the eight B vitamins.

Apart from vitamin D and B3 (niacin), our bodies cannot create these nutrients, so we need to get them from our food. If we’re not getting them from our food, then multivitamin tablets are an excellent source to obtain them.

Walking

Not only is walking excellent for our bodies, but it is a complete life savour for our mental health too. It is a completely underrated way of making you feel good.

Walking helps to maintain a healthy weight whilst losing body fat, it improves cardiovascular fitness and strengthens your bones and muscles.

Setting a goal of steps to achieve each day can motivate you to get outside and get active. If you’re like me and you work from home, then it can be difficult to get out and get active.

However, taking walking breaks, walking whilst on video calls, or simply going for a walk before/after work can get your steps in and gets you out of the house.

Create a skincare routine

Creating a skincare routine with individual steps will introduce structure to your mornings and evenings as well as encouraging a better skin complexion.

Choosing the right skin products for you can be a challenge, but with a bit of research it is easy to find the right ones for you. I use products from the Elemis Pro Collagen collection in my routine.

Step by step, I do the following for my skincare routine ever morning and every evening. I wash my face with a cleanser, then apply toner, a moisturiser, then a face oil.

You can introduce eye creams, serums and spot treatments to your routine but to keep costs down, I keep my routine relatively simple.

I hope these tips help to motivate you to add something different to your lifestyle to help you feel happier, healthier, and energised to take on the new year!
