The classic button down has always been a staple wardrobe piece and a safe bet for many. That said, you might be getting a little bored of the fail-safe shirt. Well 2017 has taken the humble, basic shirt and revamped it in a massive way. Designers such as Victoria Beckham and DKNY have experimented with the trend this year and this look is only set to become more and more popular. This season you cannot miss the deconstructed shirt on the high street and it looks like it is here to stay.

So what exactly is the deconstructed shirt trend? Essentially it is your traditional, basic shirt reinvented and modernised. By reworking shapes and patterns and adding flattering wraps and ties the shirt has become a stand out fashion statement. Wondering where you can get yours? Here are a few of my favourites.

New Look, £19.99 (Available here)

Keeping it simple, with a nod to the deconstructed trend.  The off-shoulder look is extremely flattering and keeps the look very feminine. The contrast of striped patterns is also a nice touch.

ZARA, £29.99 (Available here)

I absolutely love this ‘multiposition’ shirt from ZARA. It can be worn in several ways. The red stripe also makes it a little different.

Nasty Gal, £25.00 (Available here)

Nasty Gal’s Millie Wrap top uses gingham as a great alternative to the popular pinstripe pattern. The ruched sleeves and statement wrap tie give it the wow factor and the neckline is ever so flattering.

ASOS, £55.00 (Available here)

My top pick for deconstruction creativity, this ASOS piece keeps things very chic and the shirt has been carefully manipulated to produce a modern high-fashion look.

So, there are my top picks and there are many more out there to choose from. Alternatively, why not go the extra mile and get experimental with a DIY piece?
