At six months pregnant everyone’s eyes are glued to Kate Middleton’s maternity wardrobe. Kate’s refined fashion picks are although sometimes slightly too subservient (see the Diane Von Furstenberg coat and lilac scarf she wore on her first pregnancy appearance) they are mostly understatedly glamorous and consistent with her signature style.

Kate has also been living up to her name ‘the paper bag princess’ as she was recently spotted in a Topshop polkadot frock teamed with a beautifully fitted black Ralph Lauren jacket, during a tour of the warner brothers film studios in London. She showed us that money doesn’t buy style. Needless to say the Topshop dress sold out in hours. She also recycled her Maxmara studio dress for a friend’s wedding in the Swiss Alps, which she had previously worn in November on a visit to Cambridge.

However it was the powder blue Emilia Wickstead dress that wowed everyone at the opening of the Art Room Charity at the National Portrait gallery. Both simple yet stylish the Daily Mail described it as ‘demure’ and  ‘daringly low at the back’.

Kate Middleton’s subtle approach should be taken on board by fellow mother to be Kim Kardashian, who has gone for some louder pieces such as this hideous nude dress.

Like the rest of us I think Kim should certainly watch what Kate Middleton wears, next and take notes on what is proving to be a very stylish pregnancy!
