FOOD:

Duck with pickled cauliflower, apples and raisins.

TWIDs menu ranges from fish to raw/vegan dishes, with small sharing plates that intrigued my guest and I. There were a few things they didn’t have that were on the menu, but luckily not the dishes we were interested in trying.

We started with some scallops in kale, raspberries and hazelnuts – an unusual combination, but much like the rest of the menu. Nevertheless, these were good.

We tried five more dishes and out of these, we’d suggest the venison medallions, pictured below, and the quinoa stuffed mushroom. The port wine and gruyere sauce that the venison medallions were laid in, was a tantalising encounter for our tastebuds.

Their raw desserts failed to win us over. They were a bit flavourless and we much preferred their non-healthy options, which was the vanilla cheesecake and salted caramel cake.

OVERALL:

At TWID you will receive a unique yet bizarre experience from start to finish. With an eccentric live opera singer jumping at you from when you enter the restaurant to the artistically curated dishes.

From the outside it looks like a regular pub, which is such a contrast to what’s inside. Lavish settings resembling an opera house with red and gold draped curtains. TWID is an experience you weren’t quite ready for and didn’t really expect.

The service is attentive and they are happy to make recommendations.

We would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for something unlike anywhere else.

Ideal for: Date night and something different.
