COVERSTORY: COVER DRIVE (NOV / DEC ISSUE 2012)
When we think of bands in the charts, stereotypically we think of rock… well not in this instance! Cover Drive has a flavoursome sound imported from the Caribbean, mixed with an urban pop element, and therefore creating their own genre, suiting them down to the T – Carib-pop! The group is made up of four members: singer/ songwriter Amanda Reifer; guitarist Barry “Bar-Man” Hill; bassist Jamar “Toast” Harding and drummer/vocalist T-Ray Armstrong, all originating from Rihanna’s home country, Barbados! Cover Drive has interrupted the UK’s airwaves, with singles: ‘Lick Ya Down’, ‘Twilight’, ‘Sparks’ and more recently ‘Explode’ in July, which features NDubz’s North-Londoner Dappy. After releasing the music video for ‘Explode’, Amanda Reifer has quickly become, through this popular radio banger, one of the most sought after women on our TV and Laptop screens! We are not surprised by any means, just look at the way she is pulling those hip manoeuvres! After witnessing the energy they brought to the stage last month at London’s Wembley Arena, as part of Kelly Clarkson’s UK Arena tour, we just had to introduce our Amor readers to this enthusiastic, vibrant, quartet!
Oh not to forget, a little goss for you (if that’s what you’re into…), Jamar is dating Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne!
We can’t wait to see more from this Bajan four piece and look forward to seeing the band live next time they’re in the UK!
