As Dracula capes overload shop windows, Halloween is fast approaching, and consequently so is the gothic look. As soon as people here the ‘H’ word, they immediately think jet black eyes. nails and blood red lips, but let’s dust the cobwebs off that stereotype. Here are the alternative ways to spookify your beauty bag with products that subvert the Halloween stereotype. Who says that Goth Glam is just for the holidays?

Lips

As winter is fast approaching, a plum lipstick like Rimmel’s Bordeaux or MAC’s Smoked Purple Lipstick is the trick; dark enough to achieve the vampiric look but wearable for the autumnal months.

Hair

Kylie Jenner recently sported dip dyed  light blue and grey hair, verging on Storm from X-Men. To achieve her look, veer away from jet black locks and try a soft light pastel hair chalk in blue or grey. Alternatively, continue the purple theme with a soft lilac shade like Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, Demi Levato and Nicole Richie to achieve a ghostly effect.

Nails

If you want to opt for a subtle yet suitable Halloween style, then nails are always the best way to experiment. Try shading your nails from the cuticle upwards; start with a dark cherry hue and lighten the tone towards the tip or mix the dark cherry colour with a redder shade for a more haunting effect. Essie’s Merino Cool, a simple bruise-like soft purple shade, will also do the trick. Finish off with a layer of glitter for extra glam!
